Young Makers Mini Camp

Hands-On Skills for Curious Kids

CAMP DESCRIPTION:

Young Makers Homestead Mini Camp is a small-group, hands-on experience where kids learn STEM and real-life skills through cooking basics, crafting, building, and creative projects. Campers explore sourdough, sewing, soap and candle making, woodworking, and gardening projects in a fun, supportive environment.

 

This half-day drop-off program is intentionally limited to ensure personal instruction, creativity, and meaningful learning.

 

Snack included. Lunch not required.

All classes taught by a STEM and Family Consumer Science Certified Teacher with 7 years of classroom experience.

DAILY SCHEDULE:

8:00–8:20 Arrival & Maker Warm-Up, Camp Shirt Pickup

8:20–9:40 Core Hands-On Project

9:40–10:00 Snack & Outdoor Movement

10:00–11:15 Secondary Project & Creative Extension  

11:15–11:45 Maker Choice & Group Activity  

11:45–12:00 Cleanup, Reflection & Pickup  


 

4-DAY CURRICULUM FLOW:

 

DAY 1 — SOURDOUGH & FERMENTATION BASICS

• Feed sourdough starter

• Mix and shape dough (take home)

• Fermentation science activity

• Label starter jars

Take Home: Starter jar + dough + recipe card

 

DAY 2 — SEWING & MAKER SKILLS

• Hand sewing basics

• Simple sewing project (pouch or pillow)

• Button skills and measuring practice

Take Home: Finished sewing project

 

DAY 3 — SOAP & CANDLE MAKING

• Melt-and-pour soap making

• Simple candle pouring

• Label and packaging station

Take Home: Soap bar + candle

 

DAY 4 — WOODWORKING & GARDEN PROJECTS + SHOWCASE

• Pre-drilled woodworking build

• Decorate planters

• Herb planting

• Care instruction cards

• Parent showcase at pickup

Take Home: Wood project + planter 


 

PRICING:

Tuition:

$275 per camper

• All materials and supplies

• Daily hands-on projects

• Take-home creations

• Camp t-shirt

• Snack each day

 

PAYMENT:

Full payment required to reserve spot.

Spots are limited to 10 campers.

 

Registration opens to the public in April.​

• Sunscreen applied before arrival

Photo ID required for pickup.

WAITLIST POLICY:

Once camp is full, families may join the waitlist. If a spot becomes available, families will be contacted in order of sign-up.
